October frolicking

I went to Burnie and a trip around the North West of Tassie on my own for a free concert Triple J put on Saturday night. As it's 4 hours drive from Hobart, I decided to spend the weekend and visited a few of the local attractions. Wynyard had their annual tulip festival, so I decided to go for a tip-toe.

I headed out to Dismal Swamp, a blackwood sinkhole preserved by Forestry Tasmania. The weather was cold, wet and windy, in keeping with the name. You could walk through the swamp on walkways, and artists had inserted their flair in areas throughout the walk.

I spent a night in Stanley, which has a geographical attraction called 'The Nut', a volanic shell filled with basalt - similar to Table Cape, where the tulip farm is. You can get a chairlift up & down, but being the intrepid adventurer I am, I climbed the steep incline and had a wander about Stanley's nut. I'm more used to seeing Stanley (my father), doing his nut. Tee hee....

The best way to finish a self-absorbent weekend is to gorge oneself. Cheers!
