Greenland!

Mark and I met up in Kangerlussauq, the gateway to Greenland, essentially an airport/airforce base. He had just spent 7 weeks on the ice and I was going in for 2 1/2 weeks.

Us on the edge of the ice sheet 30km inland from Kanger.

Greenland Adventure!!!!

Mark and I went to Greenland this Aussie Winter (for their Summer) to work. We went at different times, but met up in the middle. Mark worked as an ice driller and I as the field doctor (I am writing this before I go into the field). We had a holiday together in Ilulisat, a lovely ideal Greenlandic township, in between flying in and out of Kangerlussauq, basically a US airforce base and commercial airport city.
Kangerlussauq - I'm pointing out our living quarters and NEEM base (NEEM is an acronym for the ice core drilling project).

Ilulisat.

Mark enjoyed watching the ice bergs from a distance......

Whereas I preferred to get 'up close and personal'.

Mark and I went on a midnight ice berg cruise to Jacobshaven Fiord. Beautiful shine shine for 24 hours. The sun dips just under the skyline around 2400. As you can see it's pretty cold on the water. On land we're enjoying up to 20 degree temperatures! Hello Artic Summer!!!

Townsville Visit June

This is me with my younger sister, Sarah, and her girl, 20 month old Tayla (with her best friend, Pooh Bear).

I visited Mum, Tim, Sarah, Troy and Tayla in Townsville recently. We like to celebrate gatherings in style! Having dinner at "A Touch of Salt". Delicious!!

Back in the Saddle again.

I've gone back to Irish dancing this year. This was my first competition in Launceston in May. Mark came and watched (he drove me in the Merkin).
The other dancer is Claire. She's similar in age and sympathises with my slower brain and heavier legs.
We're currently in preparation for the National Irish Dancing Championships in Hobart in October.
NB. My old dress still fits!!!

Hey there Skippy!!

This is one of our new neighbours!

When Mark and I first moved in to Valley St, upon returning our first Christmas Eve from midnight mass, we thought Santa had parked his 3 Kangaroos at the bottom of our drive.

This one seems to have been left behind!

My two favourite people...

Mark and Biscuit enjoy some time in. Mark declares he is not allergic to cats (Biscuit) as he comes in for a close up!

I went to Melbourne in March with Mark and caught up with Mum & Tim for fun and frivrolity. While I was there I went 2nd hand car shopping, and picked me up a steal!

Yuppie. Single. No kids.

Need I say more?!

East Coast

Mark and I headed to the East Coast to enjoy some of the glorious Tassie summer weather.

It's as good as it looks!

Lizzie enjoying herself....

We went kayacking to warm ourselves up for the longer weekends ahead - Mark had great plans for Summer this year and our trusty sea kayacks.

Lizzie not so much enjoying herself....
I was dumped in the sea over rocks and had little bit of hypothermia. Mark obviously thought it was far more amusing than I did, and having frozen muscles I could not express my annoyment fully.

CRAZY KIDS!!!!

Christmas/New Year

Mark and I went to Maidenhead, Berkshire (pronounced "Barkshire") just outside London for Christmas and New Year, meeting up with the Townsville crew - Mum & Tim, Sarah, Troy and Tayla.

Mum made the girls Christmassy dresses.

We Spent New Years at Hogmanay in Edinburugh, Scotland. We actually spent it in a hotel on the outskirts of the city with one of Sarah's friends, Pam, from Townsville. We endeavoured to find some excitement in the city (NB. Scotish bus seats!) where we witnessed a fellow Aussie's disappointment with the N.Y weather, with a lot of choice swear words at the ever present cold drizzle.

The girls loved playing together. They became great friends during their time together. Isabella was asking for "Ta Ta" long after Tayla returned to Townsville. Stay tuned for more mischief...
